The Professional Advisory Committee is comprised of a group of renowned experts from the various aspects of the Chinese medicine industry. These include areas of clinical practice, education, scientific research and professional associations. Each member of the committee offers their expertise to aid in the strategic development of the UK Centre of Chinese Medicine.




















Executive Director
UK Centre of Chinese Medicine Executive Director is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the organisation.

George is a qualified practitioner, educator, researcher, and organisational leader working in the field of Chinese medicine in the UK and Europe. Over more than 25 years, his professional work has encompassed clinical practice, practitioner education, collaborative research, and the development of organisations and services related to Chinese medicine. He currently serves as the Executive Director of the UK Centre of Chinese Medicine, the Managing Director of Phoenix Medical Group, the Principal of Phoenix Academy of Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine, and the Principal of the International JingFang Institute UK Branch of Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine.
His professional standing includes election as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine (UK), together with guest professorships at Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the International JingFang Institute of Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine. He also holds several professional and advisory appointments, including Treasurer of the Good Practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine Research Association, UK Co-Chair of the Consortium for Globalisation of Chinese Medicine, and Honorary Advisor to the King’s Centre for Integrative Chinese Medicine at King’s College London. In addition, he is a council member of the Pan-European Federation of Consultants in Traditional Chinese Medicine, a full member of the Register of Chinese Herbal Medicine, and a full member of the Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture in the UK.
A substantial part of his work has involved establishing and managing institutions related to Chinese medicine practice, education, research, publishing, and sector coordination. He founded the UK Centre of Chinese Medicine (CCMUK) as a platform intended to facilitate communication and collaboration among academic institutions, professional bodies, healthcare stakeholders, and industry participants. He also established the European Journal of Chinese Medicine as a publication designed to support exchange between research, clinical practice, and policy discussion within the European context.
In education, his work has focused primarily on practitioner training and professional development. Through Phoenix Academy of Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine, and in collaboration with Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, he has been involved in the delivery of training programmes for practitioners in the UK and Europe. This work has included curriculum development, programme design, and the organisation of teaching in acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine.
In the commercial sector, his work through Phoenix Medical Group has included the supply of Chinese medicine and acupuncture-related products, with particular attention to product innovation, regulatory compliance, quality assurance, supply chain documentation, and organisational development. His responsibilities have also included strategic planning for business development, professional engagement, and collaboration with partners in both mainstream healthcare and traditional medicine sectors.
His professional activities have also extended to collaborative research in Chinese medicine. Since 2007, he has participated in NHS-approved Chinese herbal medicine clinical trials conducted in collaboration with the University of Westminster and the University of Southampton. From 2019 to 2023, he served as UK Project Lead for a UK–China government-funded multi-centre clinical trial in Chinese medicine.
Taken together, his work is situated at the intersection of clinical practice, education, research collaboration, professional organisation, and industry development within the field of Chinese medicine.
Administration & Communications Team
The Administration & Communications Team is tasked with raising awareness of the organisation and its initiatives, as well as forging relationships with other organisations and stakeholders. The team, made up of experienced project coordinators, ensures the successful implementation of various projects.
